Hello everyone, once again I post on my blog. I really felt guilty for not posting for a long time (a month actually) and frankly, I felt I owe all of you an apology. So, a big sorry for those of you who DID for a fact miss my creative outbursts. To the point then, I’ll speak about the latest development in world news today I really don’t care if Micheal Jackson died in the past 2 weeks. I never heard any of his songs anyway, but may he rest in peace. I wanted to speak about something that concerns the world in general and something we all have said and heard of but never taken seriously.
I speak of the new proclamation of lesbians and gays being deemed legal by the Indian Government a few days ago, which as a habit of your dear fellow Indians, was sure to raise up a huge protest and an unnecessary hue and cry of something that needn’t be so woefully publicized. Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, until a few days ago, deemed homosexuality a crime and authorized police officials to arrest any individual who was a homosexual. This however, was waived off by the Indian Government in a miraculous and, well, shockingly mature manner.
What spurred me to write about this topic was actually all the inflammatory bullshit that was irritably replaying on our masala channels (they are no longer worth calling news channels anyway). Homosexuality, they said, is a disease and should be cured by the likes of Baba Ramdev (who was actually on the panel discussing the whole agenda) and that homosexuality was something that needed to be curbed rather than legalized. Their argument? They say it’s unnatural and thus, should be stopped at all costs! Smoking was unnatural, being born in a different race was unnatural, and to that matter, having a girl child was unnatural... Surely now we don’t think that’s too unnatural, so why should homosexuality sound any different?! It’s just a way of life that people have adopted! Big deal! It’s their life let them live it the way they want o, who gives us the right to interfere with what decisions they make in life... It’s not like this decision will put them in some kind of eventual mortal peril like drugs, which are rightly banned as they have sound scientific proof of the fact that a person stands a chance of dying because of their excessive use, but surely loving someone as the same gender as you doesn’t KILL you!!
What’s more is the fact that this decision comes in light of the recent approval of the United Nations of the LGBT! For those of you not aware of the LGBT, the LGBT stands for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender who have so far been exploited because of their respective orientations and genders. The LGBT guarantees, like the Universal Declaration Of Human Rights, equality to all people who profess to be, well, different.
Thus, finally, all I’m saying is that people in this world have the right to choose whatever they want, no amount of orthodox people can lay to rest the current scenario, which is exactly what is needed in the world today.
