Enough is Enough...

Now as I remember someone told me once that reading never harmed anyone. Well the retard would sure like to take back those words now. I’m sure you all know what I’m referring to, the audacious acts committed against Rajesh Kumar yesterday.

For the less informed lot, Rajesh Kumar is a student in Australia and was a new victim among the many who have suffered racial discrimination in Australia of late. He poor fellow was just reading a book, when someone tossed a petrol bomb into his room from the window. Now if this was his idea of a practical joke then the guy who did this seriously needs some counseling and not to mention some serious a$$ whopping…

This isn’t the only incident that has happened. As I mentioned Rajesh Kumar is just the recent victims of the many who have suffered… Another student by the name of Baljinder Singh was stabbed in the abdomen and robbed and another Sravan Kumar was stabbed by a screwdriver at a party last weekend…

My very purpose of bringing this topic forward is the fact that we are sometimes, within our land, accused of being racially and religiously intolerant (religious intolerance is like another story in its own right) and yet when our very own people are attacked in a foreign land, we do not have any complaints?

When the migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were mercilessly beaten by the Maharashtrans it was a news sensation overnight and agitations against the whole “incident” began in a matter of hours… Yet, when our very own people abroad are targeted we stand as mute witnesses?!

You cannot expect to believe that all these fellows had some argument with the people who beat them up and caused them harm… It is utterly ridiculous to think so, because footage clearly shows that these attacks are purely opportunistic, ethnically and racially directed…

Now I now what all of you politically correct beings are thinking... We shouldn’t take matters into our own hands and let the people in power, our “representatives” take care of matters… Fat chance of THAT working out friends! I do not expect them to bear any fruitful results because, let’s face it; nothing except the Nuclear Deal with the United States has been a successful endeavor in foreign relations which I must say has its own set of problems…

Now the problem that all of us should really think about is that are we going to agree to being treated as mere pushovers in the modern world or are we finally going to show some guts and get this matter the deft attention and result it needs? Are we finally going to stand up for ourselves and show the world that we are not a bunch of douche bags who need a effing shepherd to show us the darned way? That, is what we need to realize… 

Religion...

A true believer of God has a dream, a hope, the he will live, eat and eventually die in the arms of God … To achieve this dream he can take lives, devour pity & die trying… A curious question comes to my mind when I think of this.. If there was no religion would we have found ant other reason to kill each other? I really don't think so... Honestly speaking, I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended to forgo their use just to achieve HIM in the afterlife… These inflammatory ideas and philosophies are what are deceiving the people and making them believe that killing in the name of their God will help them achieve salvation. Utterly ridiculous… History being my advocate, you can see that from time immemorial, wars have been fought in the name of God. Starting from as early as the Crusades, Christians and Muslims killing each other for religious superiority and strength, came the war of the Christian Jew division… These wars have profound repercussions on the events of the world still… Even today, a devout Catholic cannot tolerate a Muslim in church... The Jews cannot forgive the Christians for the cruelties inflicted upon them in not only early times after Christ but even during the horrific times of World War II… I ask you…Weren’t the merciless killings of millions of Jews a colossal example of religious intolerance?? My friends, can you point to any wars which have occurred or are likely to occur between POLYTHEISTIC believers? Taoists against Buddhists? Animists of one sort against animists of another? I don't think so. James Hillman suggests that we ought to think hard about that case. I think he's absolutely right. Close to home… The Babri Masjid controversy was the finest example of religious prejudice in India… A fight over where previously a Hindu temple stood… It was hard to digest, how could a mosque replace the so called prestigious throne of the Hindu Gods?? Riots, mass killings, a state of utter chaos, all because a place of holy worship was not agreed upon by the “pious” Hindus… Shocking isn't it?? These are not the only instances of religious conflicts; time restricts me to narrate this endless list of wrong doings committed on the basis of religion... Ireland, Nigeria, Iran, Afghanistan, Burundi, Kashmir and Sri Lanka are just the tip of the iceberg….My friends, religion knows no bounds in promoting hatred among its embracers… Whether it be conflicts among the Protestant or Catholics of Christianity, The Sunni and the Shi’a clans of Muslims… The endless Hindu groups… All these groups are eventually killing their brothers of the world and religion has blindfolded them into believing that this is actually a good thing…Outrageous… Now I vie deeper into what prompts these people into being so violent and merciless at a point of time… According to me it’s the Holy books which are actually supposed to show how to achieve peace and tranquility… Ironic isn’t it?? Let me talk of my religion first… The Mahabharata…. An epic exhibiting a colossal war… Having elements such as lust, hatred, jealousy and, of course, violence… We as children are taught to live by the values specified in these books and if these very books exemplify values of hatred, lust and violence we’ll grow to be peace loving people right?? The Ramayana says war is justified if it results in the defeat of evil… Mr. George W. Bush says the same thing… But how many of us are really convinced by his antics in Office?? None here… Christians next…The violence exhibited in the crucifiction of Christ is known to us all… Children are taught the bible in school… what do you expect them to learn from this?? Another example; the documentary Jesus Camp; it walks you through the religious sect of an Evangelist church. In the documentary itself, you have a clear view of their extremist beliefs. Remember that I am showing you how our religions or no less extreme than those of terrorists (eventually violent people). Evangelists sacrifice their children to God much like extremist families do... and we say religion doesn’t spur violent feelings... PSHAW..!!! I must mention here that I am not an anti-religious freak of any sort… I stand here to state the facts which I fell are necessary for the development of this world as an integrated unit… No hard feelings people… My friends, a man can lose fame and fortune and still accept the world and its cruelties but no man stands idle when the very faith in God with which he fights the world upon is made a mockery of… THIS is what results in problems… The deterioration of ideological beliefs… Finally I would like state that we cannot be dogmatic about the role religion plays in influencing the people it embraces…. And being ignorant and not doing so is a cookbook of recipes headed towards destruction.

Voting..

I decided to start off by not speaking of a shallow life experience or a humorous incident I was involved in; rather I stand here to talk of something that concerns us all very deeply.

“War is a necessary evil”, I was once told… An excuse to serve as a means to an end…The very purpose of war has been personal motive… War has always been an integral part of every country and will of course continue to be so… Nothing we say or do can put a stop to it… So let us all, first of all, clear this assumption, that we can stop war from occurring… It’s just an unrealistic assumption…

I am a practical individual, to be honest; I feel that there is no human on the face of this Earth who isn’t looking for personal gain… Even the leaders of this so called world aren’t an exception to my words… We humans are a perfect blend of hatred, jealousy and mercilessness. Nothing short of it can describe us best. Let’s put my practicality to the test. To prove that the world won’t stop to achieve its selfish goals I’ll state a few examples.

Osama Bin Laden destroys the twin towers, to promote his goal of spreading terrorism. President Bush reacts by bombing Afghanistan, killing infinite number of people, just to secure his position as President. Furthermore, Iraq is bombed, supposedly, to recover nuclear weapons (which, incidentally, were never found). Yet what did the U.S. get from that war? Oil of course, an abundance of black gold to satisfy their personal motives!

We all are well informed citizens of our country. We do realize that we are facing the biggest war that we face every 5 years… The general elections… With all the accusations, the shoe throwing, the finger pointing, I daresay, we can term it as a war. This “war” that we go through every 5 yeas according to me needs to be put under the microscope. It’s become more of a sham than an official procedure. I feel that every citizen, myself included, should glance into his selfish self and ask what he does for the benefit of his country?

Now, you must be wondering where the subject of war is involved in this. War, my friends, is commonly mistaken for a war with guns and politics. I on the other hand, today, urge you to wage a different kind of war. A war upon yourself, upon your conscience! There is need for constant vigilance. By waging this war upon ourselves we not only try and understand what is good for our country but what needs to be done. When I tried this thesis upon myself (I’m practical, so I had to try it upon myself before setting it upon you all) I realized that it isn’t necessary for me to vote for a candidate! I don’t need to! Why should I be compelled to vote for candidates undeserving and unqualified?

I really started too feel that the Right to Vote was just another formality we had to rehearse every 5 years. It isn’t something substantial. Look around you, candidates standing for political organizations with criminal records! Utter blasphemy of the Indian political system. Yet, when we do not vote we are given lectures of wasting our precious votes! Doesn’t anybody realize, that when we don’t HAVE any candidates who deserve the job. No such a candidate deemed fit for it.

My war gave me a truce! It made me realize that the next time I vote... I make it a point to vote for only the candidate who is sufficiently qualified and deserving! That is why I urge you to wage a war of conscience with yourself ASAP!! It benefits us all! And do remember, the person who buys your vote today, sells your future tomorrow!
